Summer Solstice Paddle
Join FirstLight’s Recreation and Environmental Center staff for a peaceful summer solstice paddle on Friday, June 21st from 6:30 until 8:45 p.m. During this evening paddle, we’ll explore the rich history and natural history of Barton Cove. Ancient waterfalls, historic log drives, dinosaur footprints and nesting bald eagles are unique to this peninsula, cove and “narrows” on the Connecticut River. This program is appropriate for both beginning and experienced paddlers and is for anyone age 12 and older. The event is free with your own kayak or $25 for rental. Tandem kayaks are also available. Pre-registration is required by calling 1-800-859-2960. Don’t forget to bring a snack or picnic supper, water and a flashlight.
