Northfield, MA – FirstLight Power today announced that it is temporarily closing its public recreation facilities at Northfield Mountain, the Turners Falls Fishway, and Shepaug Station, effective immediately.

“FirstLight’s first priority is to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of our community who use our trails, indoor public spaces, and restroom facilities,” said FirstLight Spokesman Len Greene.  “The continued use of the recreation facilities will require continued maintenance of the restrooms and portable toilets which may unnecessarily expose workers and members of the public to COVID-19. As a precautionary measure, and in keeping with the recommendations of Governor Baker and Governor Lamont to avoid public gatherings, we have closed down our public spaces and cancelled all events booked at our facilities through the end of April.  We regret any inconvenience this may cause, and we hope to reopen to the public soon.”
