Providence Business First: FirstLight CEO Alicia Barton touts Canadian hydro deal, talks growth strategy

Alicia Barton, the CEO of FirstLight Power, says she’s bullish on the clean energy industry.

FirstLight — the owner of pumped storage facilities in Massachusetts and Connecticut, multiple hydropower dams in the Northeast, land-based solar and wind projects, and a strategic stake in offshore wind — is growing, Barton told Business First.

The Massachusetts-based FirstLight last week agreed to buy a company called HydroMega, thereby gaining ten hydroelectric facilities in Canada and enough wind, solar, and battery storage projects to double its development pipeline. Separately, FirstLight is building hybrid projects that blend renewables with storage.
