Kavya Balaraman of power industry newsletter Utility Dive reports that a new University of Massachusetts at Lowell study shows “energy storage will be one of the key components of our future electric grid infrastructure,’’ particularly to ensure maximum utilization of offshore wind and other renewables to reduce emissions to Massachusetts’ 2050 target levels. The Associated Industries of Massachusetts Foundation, which sponsored the event, says greater usage of the available energy storage capacity at Northfield Mountain is a cost-effective approach and should be a top priority.  Link to full story
