FirstLight Power Announces Recipients for Inaugural Scholarship Program for Family Members of Company Employees
New program will provide $1,500 scholarships to five family members of FirstLight employees based on essay submissions detailing how renewable energy impacts their lives
Northfield, MA – June 9, 2023 – FirstLight Power, a leading clean power producer, developer, and energy storage company, today announced the winners of five scholarships to family members of FirstLight employees. Each candidate submitted an essay on how renewable energy impacts their lives. The submissions were reviewed by FirstLight’s culture committee, which was revamped in 2023 with the mission of enhancing employee participation in building a strong company culture. The five recipients were awarded the scholarships during a ceremony held this week at Northfield Mountain.
“FirstLight is committed to making a positive impact on the communities we are a part of, including our very own community of employees,” said Steve Ryan, Director of People and Culture at FirstLight Power. “We were so impressed with the essays from this inaugural class of scholarship recipients, and we are proud to be able to give back to their families and inspire them to learn more about renewable energy.”
Meet the Scholarship Recipients
- Emily Brydges is from Suffield, CT and currently studies Economics and Mathematics at Wellesley College.
- Warren Hathaway from Northampton, MA currently studies Computer Engineering and Computer Science at Northeastern University.
- Mackenzie Collette from Torrington, CT plans to study Business and Communications at the University of Connecticut.
- Shelby Kosterman is from Bernardston, MA and currently studies Public Health at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
- Kelsie Booth of Fitchburg, MA will attend Assumption University’s nursing program.
